2010 yamaha fz6 rendered

The word is out that Yamaha is planning to set the 2010 FZ6 naked further apart from the much similar XJ6 model and this sharper, sportier concept shows how the Japanese manufacturer might achieve that.

Tokyo Motor Show-Yamaha Vmax

The advance ticket holders are already spewing out loads of photos from the Tokyo Motor Show, we hope to have some of our own shortly, but in the meantime, you might like to see these, a design study of a new (hold your breath!) Yamaha VMax! (Or is that a Star Vmax? yuk!) This was noted briefly on the Yamaha website but here are the photos.
This is not the final design, Yamaha is still looking for feedback. This concept is a sculpture primarily made of plastic so how much of this is just pure speculation from their design team and how much is close to final form, who knows?

Yamaha’s new 2009 YZ series

As the machine to beat in the national supercross and motocross championships, the release of Yamaha’s new 2009 YZ series, the YZ250F and YZ450F (and later to be followed by the 2009 YZ85 and YZ125 in September), is likely to be the talk of the paddock for some months to come.
In case you’re unaware, the 449cc liquid-cooled 5V four-stroke YZ450F is currently leading both the 2008 World and Australian series championships. For 2009, Yamaha engineers have concentrated on giving the new YZ series even better ‘tight curve performance’. As Yamaha says, “Cornering is where races are won and lost. For 2009, the YZs have been developed with a particular focus on quick cornering performance in tight curves

Yamaha FZ16 Review

This is perhaps the most sensational bike release in srilanka. People are excited about the Yamaha FZ16 more than any other bike launch in the history. Why? Because it is not the big bike which a common Indian youth can’t afford. And it is not the sports bike with big flaring and sexy but unmanly looks. FZ16 changes the definition of street biking, its daring, strong, aggressive and unique. Join with me into a journey of exploring the various features of Yamaha FZ16. This is an exclusive review meant only for the readers of BikeAdvice!
Looks and Styling: A magazine writer who has reviewed this bike tells me that this is the best looking bike in India. But I do not agree. Each kind of biker has a different taste. Some like smooth lines and big flaring, while some like the aggressive, naked and bold looks. I prefer the latter! Yes, this bike is the best looking one in the muscle segment.
Let not the pictures mislead you. The bike looks much better in real. The size of the tank looks massive. Even though the real tank hides itself from the outer make up, no one would know! When I saw the bike for the first time, I felt as if it spoke to me, “Hey, look I am here”. Definitely a head turner for sure. Even the majestic Bullet will look small near this bike. And I am sure that when you park the bike in your college parking lot, Splendors, Stars and Discovers will think twice before parking near Yamaha FZ16.
You can’t help from noticing the macho tires that add to the boldness of the bike. The 140mm rear tyre is the biggest in India. MRF has made this radial tubeless tyre exclusively for the FZ16. The front tyre is of 100mm, very impressive. The short 1.5m exhaust pipe adds to the unique feeling of the bike.
No Indian bike has a head lamp shaped like the one in FZ16. Yamaha has always tried different head lamps with its bikes, and this one is a sure winner.
The dashboard is a little disappointing for me. Muscular bikes have analog meters. This one looks as if this is a toy bike. Sorry for the FZ16 lovers, but this is the part of the bike I don’t like. It features all digital stuff including tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, trip and odometer.
The grip bars for the pillion does not look like one at all. Yamaha has tried something new with it, fortunately, it looks very cool! And look at the sharp edge of the tail… says something!
Performance: You cannot compare Yamaha FZ16 with the other premium bikes in India. The Karizma, Pulsars and R15s are for the long rides and sporty feel. But most of the Indians ride 90% of the time in city traffic. The 153cc engine of this bike is designed for the urban commute. The machine churns out 13.6 Nm of torque just at 6000 rpm. The broad tires, low center of gravity and high torque at low rpm makes it a celebration to drive in city traffic. I am sure that the so called big-bikers will be left behind once the signal turns green!
The bike covers the world standard 0-60 kmph sprint in just 5.5 seconds. The mid range thrust and the highly tuned throttle response are designed to give you the feel of a ultra-powerful bike in the urban ride. The maximum speed is 111kmph. As I said before, this bike is not for the long commutes. The seats are soft which is comfortable initially, but will yield and give you a pain in the ass if your drive for more than an hour. Strictly self start, no kicking anymore. I miss the kick. I used to kick my Karizma to start even though I had a self starter because I felt that only girls who do not have the kicking power would press a button with their thumb. But anyway, lets not blame Yamaha for that!
The open front gives you a good view of the vehicles going ahead and the broad tires help you twist and turn  with ease. You can easily do stunts with Yamaha FZ16 because of the superior mass centralization and broad tires. The 267mm diameter brakes assist in doing easy stoppies. Now you too can get such a pic for your online profile! The mileage figures are not the highlights, but it is still doing good. 40kmpl in city and 54kmpl in the highways.
Verdict: Throw away your sporty looking bikes which people call sports bikes. Get real, India needs a bike like this. The mono suspension is great and can be adjusted unlikeR15, which helps you to tune according to the road conditions. You may not have the money to buy Harley Davidson, you may not want to work all your life to fill the tank with ever increasing fuel prices and you may not have all the strength to handle a Bullet, but you definitely have a choice of picking a red, flaming orange or black coloured Yamaha FZ16.
Pros:
  • Manly Looks
  • Broad & Tubeless Radial Tires
  • International Branding
  • Tuned for Urban Riding
  • First of its Kind in India
  • Competitive Pricing (Rs.65,000 Ex-showroom)
  • Six Free Services and 2-Year, 30,000 Km warranty
Cons:
  • Toyish Dashbaord with Full Digital Stuff. (Would have been better with dials)
  • Just three colour options
  • Could have provided disc brakes for the rear tires.

Yamaha Motor Bike Parts - Finding the Parts

When your Yamaha motor bike isn't working like it should, you need to have reliable sources so that you can get the parts and service that you need. If you are in the market for a Yamaha motor bike part, there are plenty of places that you can turn. First and foremost, it is important for you to take the time to consider what parts you need, what model of bike you have, and which dealers are available. After that, the rest comes down to choosing from your different options.

Find a Yamaha dealer or motor bike parts store that offers you the right price for your budget. Make sure that they are reputable and going to stand behind the products that they sell. You can't put a price on quality service, and you should make sure that you work with those who provide it to you. Whilst price will be important to you, don't focus solely on this; Make sure that you think about the price in addition to the company that you are getting it from and other advantages that you get in the process. For example, if the part is cheap but comes from a company that isn't reliable then consider spending a little more to get reliable service from your dealer or parts store.

What if you don't know what motor bike part you need? In that case, you need to find a Yamaha dealer or parts store that can help you to diagnose the problem and figure out what the effective solution is. Many companies will do this for free, although some charge a small service fee for doing an inspection on your motor bike. Which you choose is up to you, but you might check out the free inspections first simply because they'll save you money.

Getting the right Yamaha motor bike part for a price that you can afford is critical to your enjoyment of riding. You should always allow yourself time to find reputable dealers or parts stores and make sure that you are getting the part that you need. Never guess which part you need or sell yourself short by buying cheap parts from companies that you've never heard of. When it comes to bike repair, it should be done right. Plus, the sooner you take care of this, the sooner you will be back out on the road and on your way to enjoying another ride around the beautiful New Zealand countryside.

Opening its doors in May 2004, Waikato Yamaha is New Zealand's number one Yamaha dealer and is also the first Yamaha Platinum Dealer in New Zealand.

The Service Department strives to provide a higher level of service, skill and professionalism. It is important to have highly skilled motivated staff in this very competitive industry. Waikato Yamaha's dedicated staff, have a wide range of motorcycle experience, in the industry, competitive and recreational riding, and in the farming sector.

    Yamaha OX99-11 Supercar 3498 cc V12

    Yamaha OX99-11 Supercar 3498 cc V12

Yamaha initially approached a German company to come up with some designs for the supercar. However Yamaha dismissed the proposals as they were considered to similar to existing supercars. IAD were at this point hired to continue work on the project. In 1992 IAD came with an initial version of the OX99-11.
The Yamaha OX99-11 was a supspercar designed by IAD, an English engineering consultancy, and Yamaha subsidiary Yilon Technology.
While the Yamaha OX99-11 was originally slated to appear in 1994, the roots of the OX99-11 project began in 1989 when Yamaha began competing in Formula One, later this spawned the desire to create a supercar based on Formula One technology.
Despite the fact the Formula One team was less than competitive, a new engine called the OX99 appeared in 1991, helping to give the new car a name.
    Yamaha OX99-11 Supercar 3498 cc V12

The new car featured an unusual and somewhat ugly design, features like the prominent front spoiler, tandem seating, cockpit shaped roof and protruding engine scoop stood out from other vehicles. Other features of the car which were rather extreme included the carbon fiber chassis and OX99 engine which were borrowed from the F1 car.
Budget disagreements meant the Yamaha OX99-11 project was taken from IAD and handed over to Ypsilon Technology, who were given 6 months to finish the project. A further blow to the project was came in the form of a financial crisis which hit Japan and it was decided that there wouldn't be enough buyers capable of handing over the vast sums of money needed to buy the car. In 1994 the Yamaha OX99-11 project was axed. By this point only 3 prototypes had been constructed.

    2010 Yamaha FJR1300A Supersport Touring

    2010 Yamaha FJR1300A Supersport Touring
It might seem that the 2010 Honda VFR1200F has come to reinvent the supersport touring segment, but manufacturers such as Yamaha have their own classic approach towards offering a motorcycle that is fast, comfortable and built to last, the 2010 FJR1300A. Those of you who are familiar with the name will say that the FJR1300AE is an even better choice thanks to Yamaha’s electric-shift five-speed transmission, which eliminates the clutch and offer riders effortless electric shifting, but Yamaha has discontinued this model for 2010 and leaves FJR riders completely in charge over the bike’s functions.
Considering the fact that Yamaha brags about the new FJR1300A offering an incredibly smooth ride, you first tend to think they simply took the best from the AE model – the fancy transmission and clutch – and fitted it on the A one, which was to carry on as a 2010 model year, but no. Along time, sales have shown that riders prefer the FJR’s beautiful combination between power coming from the 1298cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four; DOHC, 16 valves engine and sporty handling characteristics ensured by a light aluminum frame.
Broadly, the right engine and chassis “make” the bike and in this case, the fuel-injected mill is mated to a five-speed gearbox and a shaft stands as the final drive, while the forks are 48mm, fully adjustable units capable of 5.4 inches of travel and the rear shock, which is preload and rebound adjustable, offers 4.8 inches of travel. Although none of these features are new on the bike, they do help us show how engineers managed to do the trick with this motorcycle. The brakes are very important as well for this 641 lbs two-wheeler and the fact that ABS is standard on the 2010 Yamaha FJR1300A comes as an ease of things for most riders.
Technically, this bike doesn’t get any reproaches, but in order to be a refined sports tourer it needs to offer the proper comfort and wind protection. And with adjustable ergonomics and windshield, the 2010 Yamaha FJR1300A doesn’t show any signs of not being precisely that.
As we earlier mentioned, people tend to compare the fairly unchanged 2010 Yamaha FJR1300A with the new, sport-oriented 2010 Honda VFR1200F and we’ll have to say that if that would be the case, the subject of this article won’t stand a change, but the 2009 Honda ST1300 is still going strong and has plenty to show against our bike, especially in terms of touring-like comfort and excellent wind protection. So the battle between Big Red and Racing Blue should start a new round after Honda calls the ST1300 a 2010 model year.

    2010 Yamaha FJR1300A Supersport Touring
Although not redesigned for 2010, the fact is that the FJR1300A looks like a fully-faired and completely accessorized FZ1 on steroids. Designers made sure this bike will fulfill its rider’s needs during long journeys by developing the advanced air management system and adjustable bodywork, which spoil the rider.
The foamy seat can be adjusted from 31.69 to 32.48 inches above the ground and the windscreen is pushbutton adjustable as well. But these are matters of finesse. What truly strikes you is how aerodynamic the fairing actually is, indicating that it doesn’t get a lot of those “fix this” stickers when being tested in the air tunnel. Also, the thing looks very aggressive and the mirrors look bigger than those of a Mini, contributing at the bike making its presence truly felt down the open road. We even heard a car driver saying “that thing looks scary in my rear view mirror” at a gas station once, but didn’t quite believe him.
With the footpegs positioned right at the middle of the bike and the handlebars brought close to the rider, the FJR offers an upright riding position and shows that it will sacrifice looks over comfort at any time even though this is not the case. Onboard, the Instrument panel features an electronic analog speedometer and tachometer; LCD digital odometer, dual tripmeters, gear position indicator, fuel, coolant and air temperature gauges, and clock; lights for neutral, high beam, turn signals, low oil and engine warnings—as well as real-time mileage, average mileage and air temperature, just like you would expect from a bike in this segment. Still, it’s the sidecases that complete the FJR’s sport-touring look as not everyone who looks at the bike will get to swing a leg over it, so it’s good they get the right opinion from the first glance.
Liquid Silver is the only color available for the 2010 Yamaha FJR1300A and we believe it suits it best because this is one of those things you now see and then you don’t.

    2010 Yamaha FJR1300A Supersport Touring
But riders who want this to be a constant presence in their lives will have to look over the fairly spicy $15,190 MSRP considering that the 2010 Kawasaki Concours 14 starts at $14,599 and the ABS model at $15,299 and these are upgraded bikes that we’re talking about. Expect to find it at your local dealer in February.
It seems that Yamaha relies on the FJR1300A’s fame to obtain the best results in the year to come and they don’t have a big retention when it comes to price. That is because nobody complained about these motorcycles so far and for good reason.
